Typically, it is recommended that you stay below 800 and above 200 thread count for optimal comfort, with thread count between 400 to 600 considered luxury.

Stitching is another factor when choosing a down comforter that people can sometimes overlook yet plays a huge role in the comfortability and the longevity of your comforter. You’ll want to look for down comforters that have baffle boxing or quilt stitching as this helps keep the feathers in place, spread out and fluffed up.
